Why convert MP4 to JPG?

A JPG still from an MP4 makes a thumbnail, a cover image, a picture for a document or a post for a site that takes photos only. The frame is saved at the video's full resolution, and JPG keeps it much smaller than PNG, which matters for 4K video.

How ToolGPT saves the frame

The frame is taken from the video in your browser, so the video is not uploaded to a server.

PNG is lossless and is what ToolGPT makes unless you ask otherwise. JPEG is smaller, which helps with 4K frames or images you plan to email; just say which one you want.

About MP4

MP4 is the standard MPEG-4 video container, used by phones, cameras, streaming sites and editing apps. It usually holds H.264 or HEVC video with AAC sound. Its strength is that it plays almost everywhere; its weakness is that the video is compressed with loss, so each re-encode costs a little quality.

About JPG

JPG, also written JPEG, is the standard format for photographs, used by cameras, phones and almost every website. It compresses images with loss, so photos stay small while still looking natural. It has no transparency, and strong compression or repeated saving adds blocky artifacts, especially around text and sharp edges.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get every frame of the video?

No. ToolGPT saves the single frames you choose. For a moving clip, ask for a GIF instead.

Can I pick an exact time?

Yes. Say “the frame at 1:23” or “the last second”, and ToolGPT saves that moment.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The frame is taken in your browser.
