How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the MP4

Open ToolGPT and press the + button beside the message box, or drop the video into the chat. No account is needed to start.

  2. 2

    Pick the moment

Ask for a still and tap one of the frames ToolGPT shows, or name the time you want.

  3. 3

    Download the PNG

The image appears as a card in the chat with a download button. The video is not changed.

Why convert MP4 to PNG?

A PNG still keeps every pixel of a video frame exact, which suits tutorials, documentation, slides and further editing. Name the moment, such as 0:42, and ToolGPT saves the frame on screen at that time, with portrait phone videos kept upright.

How ToolGPT saves the frame

The frame is taken from the video in your browser, so the video is not uploaded to a server.

PNG is lossless and is what ToolGPT makes unless you ask otherwise. JPEG is smaller, which helps with 4K frames or images you plan to email; just say which one you want.

About MP4

MP4 is the standard MPEG-4 video container, used by phones, cameras, streaming sites and editing apps. It usually holds H.264 or HEVC video with AAC sound. Its strength is that it plays almost everywhere; its weakness is that the video is compressed with loss, so each re-encode costs a little quality.

About PNG

PNG is a lossless image format widely used for screenshots, logos, icons and graphics that contain text. It keeps every pixel exact and supports transparent backgrounds. For photographs, though, a PNG is usually much larger than a JPG of the same picture.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get every frame of the video?

No. ToolGPT saves the single frames you choose. For a moving clip, ask for a GIF instead.

Can I pick an exact time?

Yes. Say “the frame at 1:23” or “the last second”, and ToolGPT saves that moment.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The frame is taken in your browser.
