AI photo effects: restyle a picture by describing the look

A filter changes colours; an AI effect redraws the picture. Attach a photo, describe a style such as a cartoon, an oil painting or a pencil sketch, and an AI image model on a server makes a new version. You sign in first, and the photo is sent only with your permission.

What it can do

  • Any style you can describe

Cartoon, watercolor, oil painting, pencil sketch, pop art or a mood of your own, in plain words.

  • Say what should stay

Mention what to keep, such as the faces or the pose, and it goes into the instruction.

  • Low, medium or high quality

Ask for the quality you want; higher quality costs more credits.

  • Sent only with permission

A permission card names the photo before it leaves your device, unless you allowed uploads for this tab.

  • The cost before you start

The card shows the estimated credits. They are held during the effect and refunded if it fails.

How it works

  1. 1

Sign in and attach a photo

Sign in with Google or Apple, then add a JPEG, PNG or WEBP photo with the + button.

  2. 2

    Describe the effect

Say the style you want. ToolGPT asks permission to send the photo, then shows a card with the instruction, the quality and the cost.

  3. 3

    Create and download

Press Edit picture, or reply “go”. The restyled picture arrives in the chat with a download button.

Effects that redraw the picture

ToolGPT's photo filters adjust the colours of your own pixels: warmer, black and white, faded. An AI effect is different: the model draws a new picture in the style you describe, starting from your photo. That is how a portrait becomes a cartoon or a city street becomes a watercolor.

Because each result is a new drawing, details can change and two attempts can differ. If the first version is not right, change the description: “less cartoonish, keep the background” works well.

Sign-in, permission and credits

AI effects need an account; signed out, you see a Sign in button. The photo goes to ToolGPT's server and on to an outside image service running an OpenAI model, after you allow it on a permission card. Each effect is charged in credits: the card shows an estimate, the credits are held while the model works, and they are refunded if the job fails, for example under the image service's content rules. The final charge is the actual cost.

The result comes out square, 3:2 landscape or 2:3 portrait, whichever is closest to your photo, and it is saved to Output Files, ready for the regular photo tools.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to sign in?

Yes. AI effects need an account; sign in with Google or Apple, then ask again.

Will the result look exactly like my photo?

No. The model redraws the picture in the new style, so details can change. Say what must stay the same to keep it close.

Is my photo uploaded?

Yes, after you allow it, because the effect is made on a server. A permission card names the photo first, unless you chose Allow for this tab earlier.

Is there an option without credits?

Yes. ToolGPT's photo filters change colours and add grain on your device without credits; AI effects are for redrawing the picture.
