Crop a video to square, portrait, tall or wide

Tell ToolGPT the shape you need and it shows your own frame cropped to each option, so you can see what will be cut before anything runs. Tap a card and the cropped copy is made in your browser.

What it can do

  • Four shapes

Square 1:1, Portrait 4:5, Tall 9:16 and Wide 16:9, plus “As it is” to leave the frame alone.

  • Previews on your frame

Each card shows the exact part of the picture that would be kept, at the real output size.

  • Choose what stays

Crops are centered by default. Ask to keep the top, bottom, left or right instead.

  • One shape, three positions

If the wrong part was kept, ToolGPT shows that shape again at three positions so you can pick a better one.

  • Edges only

Cropping only removes edges. It never adds bars and never stretches the picture.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the video

Add the video with the + button beside the message box, or drop it into the chat.

  2. 2

    Pick a shape

Ask to crop it, or name the shape. Look at the cards and tap the one where everything important is still in view.

  3. 3

    Download the cropped video

The new file appears as a card with a download button. Your original video is not changed.

How the crop is chosen

A crop keeps the largest area of the new shape that fits inside your video. If the shape is wider than the video, the full width is kept and the top and bottom are removed. If it is taller, the full height is kept and the sides are removed. A shape your video already has is not offered, because it would change nothing.

The kept area is not scaled up or down. A 1920×1080 video cropped to a square becomes 1080×1080.

Crop, add bars, or prepare for a platform?

Cropping is the right choice when the edges of the picture do not matter. If everything in the frame has to stay visible, use the aspect ratio changer, which adds bars around the picture instead of cutting it.

If the video is going to TikTok, Reels or Shorts, name the platform. ToolGPT then uses its social media recipe, which fits the whole picture into the platform's frame and applies its size and length limits. Cropping is also not meant to make a file smaller; to do that, compress it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I draw my own crop box?

No. In the chat you choose one of the four shapes and which part of the picture to keep.

Can I crop an AVI file?

Convert it to MP4 first. ToolGPT can do both in the same chat: ask for the conversion, then crop the result.

Is my video uploaded?

No. The crop is made in your browser.
