ToolGPT

Compress a photo to under 50 KB

Online application forms often cap the photo at 50 KB. Tell ToolGPT the limit and it writes a JPEG under 50 KB at the highest quality that fits, without the photo leaving your device.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the photo

Add it with the + button or drag it into the chat. Set a size for one photo at a time.

  2. 2

    Ask for 50 KB

Say the limit. If the form also gives a pixel size, such as 600 × 600, say that too, and ToolGPT resizes the photo before it compresses it.

  3. 3

    Check the size, then download

The new size is shown on the result card. Your original photo stays as it was.

How a photo is fitted under 50 KB

ToolGPT writes the photo as a JPEG, starting at quality 92 and stepping down to 30. It stops at the first setting that fits under your limit, so the photo keeps as much quality as 50 KB allows. The pixel size stays the same unless you ask for a smaller one.

A typical phone photo won't fit at its full size. When even quality 30 is too big, ToolGPT reports the smallest size it reached and suggests a smaller long edge. Around 800 pixels is often enough for 50 KB; ask again with that size and it tries once more. The work happens in your browser.

Forms with a minimum size too

Some forms set a range, such as 20 to 50 KB. ToolGPT fits a photo under a limit, but it doesn't add bytes to reach a minimum. Check the size on the result card, and if it came out too small, ask for a larger pixel size.

For a passport or visa photo with official measurements, use ToolGPT's passport photo maker instead. It frames the head to that country's rules and fits the file to the office's KB limit at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

What if my photo is already under 50 KB?

Then it already fits. ToolGPT only hands back a compressed copy that is smaller than the original.

Can I get a PNG under 50 KB?

The compressed file is a JPEG, or a WEBP if you ask. PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so it has no quality setting to lower.

Does the new file keep the photo's location?

No. The compressed copy doesn't carry the original's camera details or location tag.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. They are compressed in your browser, on your own device.
