ToolGPT

Resize an image for your X (Twitter) header

X recommends 1500 × 500 pixels for a header image, a wide 3:1 strip. Attach a photo, choose the strip you want to keep, and ToolGPT crops and resizes it for you.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the photo

A landscape photo works best, because the header is three times wider than it is tall.

  2. 2

    Choose the strip

Say 3:1 and which part to keep, or open Custom crop on the crop card and drag the box over the part you want.

  3. 3

    Resize to 1500 × 500

ToolGPT writes the header at 1500 × 500 pixels. Download it and upload it in your X profile settings.

A 3:1 strip from your photo

The header's 3:1 shape isn't one of the crop card's ready-made tiles, so there are two ways to get it. Ask ToolGPT for a 3:1 crop and say whether to keep the middle, the top or the bottom. Or open Custom crop on the card, where you can drag a box or type its width and height in pixels, such as 3000 × 1000.

Then ToolGPT resizes the strip to exactly 1500 × 500. Because the strip already has the right shape, nothing is stretched.

Keep faces and words near the middle

On X, your profile picture sits over part of the header, so keep faces and words away from the bottom-left corner. Check how it looks on your profile after you upload it.

The header is made in your browser and saved as a new file. Your original photo stays as it was.
