ToolGPT

Resize a video for TikTok without cropping it

Attach a landscape clip, a square video or a screen recording and say “make this TikTok ready”. The TikTok recipe fits the whole picture into a vertical 1080×1920 frame, fills the empty space with a blurred copy of your video, and writes an MP4 in your browser.

How it works

  1. 1

    Attach the video

Open ToolGPT and add the clip with the + button or drop it into the chat. MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, AVI and FLV files all work.

  2. 2

    Check the TikTok card

Ask for TikTok. A card shows a live preview in the 9:16 frame, the background choices and, for a long video, the part that will be kept.

  3. 3

    Apply and download

Press Apply, or ask ToolGPT to apply it for you. The new MP4 appears in the chat with a download button.

What the TikTok recipe makes

The result is always a 1080×1920 video in a 9:16 frame, with H.264 video and AAC audio at 128 kbps in an MP4 file. A video that is already vertical, such as a phone recording, fills the frame. A 4K vertical clip is scaled down to 1080×1920, and a MOV or MKV comes back as an MP4.

The frame rate follows your video, up to 60 frames per second. A 30 fps clip stays at 30 fps, because the recipe never adds frames. A clip recorded at 120 fps comes out at 60.

Landscape clips are fitted, not cropped

A wide clip becomes a band across the middle of the vertical frame. The space above and below is filled with a blurred, enlarged copy of the same video, so the frame never looks empty. Because nothing is cut off, on-screen text and people at the edges of the picture stay visible.

On the card you can make the blur stronger or darker, or switch to a solid color, such as black or white. The preview updates as you change it.

Videos longer than 60 seconds

The TikTok recipe keeps at most 60 seconds. For a longer video the card starts with the first 60 seconds selected and shows a filmstrip, where you can drag the window to the part you want. You can also type a start time, such as “use the minute from 2:30”. A video of 60 seconds or less is kept whole.

Frequently asked questions

What will the new file be called?

The platform name is added to the front of your file name, so beach_day.mov comes back as tiktok_beach_day.mp4. Your original file is not changed.

Is my video uploaded to prepare it?

No. The recipe runs in your browser, using the browser's own video encoder where it can and a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg where it cannot.

Does ToolGPT post the video to TikTok?

No. It prepares the file; you download it and upload it to TikTok yourself.

Can I use the same clip for Reels or Shorts?

Yes. The card has a button for each platform, so you can switch the same video to Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts before you apply.
